Romans 8:18
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us."
Dear Beloved In Christ,
I’ve been reflecting on Romans 8:18 lately—'For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us'—and I wanted to share it with you.
Child of God, we often find ourselves in seasons where the 'sufferings of this present time' feel very loud. Whether it is health, loss, or simple exhaustion, it is okay to acknowledge that these things are hard.
But Paul gives us a beautiful practice in Romans 8:18: the practice of comparison.
He isn't asking us to pretend our pain isn't real; he’s asking us to place it on a scale against the glory that God has promised. When we do that, we find that our current struggles, as heavy as they feel today, are actually outweighed by the eternal joy that is waiting for us. We are not just waiting for the storm to end; we are waiting for the light that will make the memory of this storm seem small in comparison.
Whatever difficulties or heavy seasons we might be walking through right now, I hope this serves as an anchor for you.
I’m praying for each of you, and I’m so grateful we can walk through these seasons together.
May the Peace of Our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
A word of Prayer for you.
Lord, thank You that You are a God who sees the 'present time' of our lives. You see our struggles and You know our hearts. Help us to keep our eyes fixed on the hope of Your glory. May that hope give us the strength to walk through today, knowing that our current season is not our final destination. Amen.
